Why use Waterlink for your training?

Waterlink runs regular online courses every month; the courses are trainer-led remotely via Zoom, therefore whether you have one candidate or several - we should have a course for you.

Our trainers have worked hands-on in the water industry for many years, so they approach the subject in a practical way and certainly won't try to teach you what you are an expert in.

Outside of training, your trainer works directly with Waterlink and South East Water staff to ensure they are working to the highest standards within all aspects of Health and Safety.

Who needs to consider a Water Hygiene course?

The quality of water affects everyone, and anybody working with water should be suitably qualified. This could include anyone working with:

  • Water pipe repairs, separations and new supplies
  • Plumbing
  • Drains and sewers
  • Central heating and hot water
  • Solar water heating
  • Air-conditioning
  • Swimming pools
  • Tankered water
  • Bottled water
  • Boreholes

For those working on restricted sites, it is compulsory.

What do we cover within the course?

  • The various risks associated with drinking water, including waterborne diseases and their history.
  • The water quality regulators DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate) and DWQR (Drinking Water Quality Regulator), and their function in ensuring water is treated with adequate respect for the health of the public.
  • The regulations that have an impact on your job and how you can best comply with them.
  • Establishing what restricted operations are.
  • When you personally should not work with drinking water. (NB: Any waterborne diseases must be reported to the trainer immediately with a cover letter from the individual’s doctor.)
  • Personal hygiene and dealing with clothing, footwear, tools, storage and transport in relation to water hygiene.
  • How to store and handle water pipes and accessories.
  • How to recognise risks of contamination and deal with impacted sites.
  • The impact on yourself and your company should Water Hygiene not be adhered to.
